Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is an on-site Part-Time Contractor role. Approximately 20 hours per week. The Business Development Manager is responsible for helping drive revenue growth through strategic membership sales and sponsorship development. This role focuses on building and nurturing relationships with local businesses, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to enhance the Chamber’s impact and financial sustainability. The ideal candidate will excel in both sales and relationship management, with a focus on achieving revenue targets and expanding the Chamber’s influence.
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Sales & Growth:
Strategy & Execution: Work with the President & CEO to Develop and implement a comprehensive membership growth strategy that aligns with the Chamber’s mission and revenue goals.
Prospecting & Outreach: Actively identify and engage prospective members through networking, events, and targeted outreach initiatives and sales calls, blitzes and campaigns.
Sales Presentations: Conduct one-on-one meetings and presentations to showcase the benefits of Chamber membership, effectively communicating the value proposition.
Onboarding & Retention: Ensure new members are handed off effectively for onboarded and engaged through welcome initiatives, regular communication, and member events ex: Invited to Chamber 101.
Sponsorship Development:
Sponsorship Sales: Identify and cultivate potential corporate sponsors for Chamber events, programs, and initiatives.
Package Development: Work with the President & CEO to refine sponsorship packages that align with the objectives of corporate partners while enhancing Chamber programs as needed.
Negotiation & Closing: Lead negotiations, close deals, and maintain strong relationships with sponsors to ensure ongoing support and satisfaction.
Activation & Deliverables: Collaborate with the President & CEO and events and marketing teams to ensure sponsor recognition and benefits are delivered according to agreements.
Revenue Management & Reporting:
Target Achievement: Meet or exceed established revenue targets for both membership sales and sponsorship income.
Data Analysis: Utilize CRM and other sales tools to track performance metrics, analyze sales data, and refine strategies to maximize revenue.
Performance Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on membership solicitation, sales and sponsorship growth to the President & CEO.
Collaboration & Community Engagement:
Community Presence: Represent the Chamber at networking events, community functions, and public forums to build the Chamber’s visibility and promote its programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field preferred (Not Mandatory)
Minimum of 2-5 years of proven success in business development, sales, or partnership management—experience with Chambers of Commerce or non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to generate revenue through membership sales and sponsorship development.
Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales analytics tools.
Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Compensation: is base pay, plus commission. Additional information will be provided upon receipt of application for further consideration.
