NATURE OF WORK
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Registered Nurse for our Float Pool who shares our commitment to exceptional patient care. The Registered Nurse – Float Pool provides management of patient care across all hospital nursing units including house supervisor. Assignments are determined based on patient acuity and census. The RN supports safe, evidence‑based nursing practice in alignment with departmental policies and procedures, collaborating with ancillary departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver safe, evidence‑based patient care across multiple hospital units based on acuity and census.
- Assign and oversee duties of LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Desk Secretaries.
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff; support ongoing staff education.
- Participate in code management, fire drills, and disaster response plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and ancillary departments to improve patient outcomes.
- Accurately document care and operate computerized EHR systems.
- Provide patient teaching and support discharge planning.
- Maintain current clinical skills to competently care for patients in Med‑Surg, ICU, Emergency, Skilled Care, Surgery Outpatient Infusion, and outpatient clinic settings.
- Protect patient privacy, ensure proper specimen handling, and administer medications safely.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and effective communication in high‑stress environments.
- Carry out physician orders and report changes in patient condition promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of hospital mission and patient care.
COMPENSATION: $34.00 - 46.50 per hour $7.00 float incentive per hour
SCHEDULE: Variable; Availability for All Shifts

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing; Licensed and registered as a Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois; BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; TNCC certification
EXPERIENCE
- Required: Three to five years of clinical nursing experience
- Preferred: Clinical Experience in Units of Float Pool
SKILLS
- Strong clinical judgment and patient care management.
- Proficiency with computerized EHR systems and order entry.
