Role Description
The Data Governance Program Lead advances the utility’s advanced analytics efforts through leadership of data management and governance strategies, policies, and procedures. Under limited supervision this job is responsible for leading the alignment modification and unification of Fairfax Water’s enterprise data management and governance tooling, coordinating with management and staff to manage and oversee the Data Governance Program, implement and maintain data governance policies and processes.
Examples of Duties
- Collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance policies, processes, and standards.
- Establish and maintain the data governance framework, including roles, responsibilities, processes and tools.
- Leads enterprise-wide data management and governance tooling strategy.
- Contributes to the vision of modernizing and unifying data governance tools and frameworks.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive data governance strategy and roadmap.
- Coordinates modernization by integrating AI, automation, data virtualization and advanced analytics into governance processes
- Leads integration of metadata lineage and governance platforms
- Provides robust data quality, discovery and AI-driven productivity tooling
- Collaborates with staff to develop and maintain dashboards
- Coordinates enterprise data modernization by designing and optimizing data lake reference architecture ensuring seamless data ingestion, storage, and retrieval across structured and unstructured sources, enabling scalable, secure and compliant data ecosystems that support real-time analytics and business intelligence
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience, plus 5 -7 years of working experience.
- Works independently with minimal supervision, faces difficult and complex problems, may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of data governance principles, frameworks, policies and compliance standards.
- Thorough knowledge of data management tools, automation frameworks, and cloud ecosystems
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and other desktop applications as necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data and to prepare reports from such data.
- Ability to compose and edit various types of business correspondence.
- Ability to communicate information that requires some explanation or interpretation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co- workers and the public.
