General Building Maintenance Worker II

Join a team that keeps county facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for staff and the community. As a General Building Maintenance Worker II, you’ll use your hands-on expertise to perform a wide range of architectural and structural repairs that help preserve and enhance our buildings.

This role performs maintenance and repair of architectural and structural building systems, ensuring facilities remain in excellent operating condition. The ideal candidate is skilled, reliable, and comfortable working independently on complex tasks as well as collaboratively with facility users and other trades.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general repair and maintenance on building components such as doors, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, stairways, office furniture, shelving, and roofing.
• Safely operate, clean, maintain, and store a wide variety of stationery and hand tools.
• Inspect County facilities to identify architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing deficiencies.
• Conduct building safety inspections to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards.
• Independently complete advanced skilled-trade tasks with minimal supervision.
• Prepare detailed work requests for required repairs across architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
• Coordinate with facility users to resolve building system issues efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain flexibility in work location and schedule to support business needs and ensure continuity of operations.
• Participate in call-back and on-call duty as required.
• Utilize a County-issued procurement card in accordance with all policies and procedures.

Notes:

• Incumbent is considered essential personnel.
• This position is located at the judicial complex and work assigned could be at the County courthouse, Adult Detention Center or other surrounding buildings of the campus.
• This position can be assigned anywhere in the county daily.
• The position location and work schedule can be altered or changed at any given time due to business necessity and operational needs.
• A flexible working schedule is required as well as call-back and on-call participation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; plus completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program in a specific trade with two years of full performance-level experience in building maintenance, repair and/or construction trades work; or three years of full performance level experience in two or more skilled trades related to building maintenance and repair work.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and pre-employment medical evaluation to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five years of experience in the commercial carpentry trade and with general knowledge of interior finishes.
• Knowledge in other trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC and/or architectural and structural systems.
• Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to climb extension ladder and scaffolds up to 50 ft. Must be able to lift up and carry up to 75 lbs. With assistance of dolly, lift, or staff. Must be able to stoop, bend and work in tiring/uncomfortable conditions for extended periods of time. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
