This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Per the FCFPSA collective bargaining agreement, telework may be approved in limited circumstances as defined by Regulation 4417.

Qualifications
Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information technology, technology engineering, or related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in application-based database information system and repository design and implementation, one (1) year of which shall have been in code development.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Knowledge of the theory and concepts of relational database management systems.
- Knowledge of database design, software installation, and maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of theory and concepts of the network- and object-oriented databases.
- Knowledge of industry-standard database procedures, software development, and data definition languages and utilities.
- Familiarity with relevant tools for repository implementation, security, and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Develops the database server architecture to provide for the integration of disparate database management systems and servers across the enterprise to ensure a high-performance database environment.
- Develops a database administration plan and performs the installation, configuration, and maintenance of disparate database management systems and related software within the context of the plan.
- Evaluates new and emerging database management technologies to enable the use of related development tools and techniques.
- Develops standards for disparate database management systems.
- Develops budget and forecasts costs; serves as the primary point of contact for all database design and implementation activities.
- Establishes relationships with vendors, negotiates, monitors, and maintains contracts.
- Designs, develops, implements, and maintains physical repositories for business applications and support systems.
- Designs and implements predictive analysis processes and procedures that ensure database reliability.
- Designs and implements an effective backup/recovery strategy to support the strategic database environment.
- Creates and maintains database configuration and design documentation.
- Administers user accounts, roles, grants, and implements database security specifications.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
