- Must meet one of the three qualifications: 1.
- High school diploma or equivalent and either having completed or the ability to complete the ParaPro Assessment or the HELP within four (4) months of hire, or
- Associate’s degree or higher, or
- Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent.
- Fluent in both Spanish and English, in reading, writing, speaking, and listening with advanced vocabulary and grammar in both languages.
- Experience required to communicate with and relate well to persons from diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
- Understanding of ethics and cultural differences associated with translating completely and accurately for all parties involved.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to work with students, parents, and district staff with various cultural backgrounds and language abilities.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with computers, other technical devices, and programs such as Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
- Must be able to travel to various schools and offices within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. While driving on district business, must hold a valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and registration.

Job Summary:
Serve as communication and cultural liaison between home and school for students and families who are limited English proficient and speak Spanish at home. Support classroom teachers and other district staff in making instruction and school services accessible to limited English proficient students whose primary language is Spanish by providing accommodations and language interpretation using the student’s primary language.
Hourly rate: Grade 6 $21.60-$34.03 DOE
Work Hours: 7.5 hours a day
Work year: 9 months
