SUMMARY
The Residential Manager supervises the Residential Aide staff and coordinates consumer activities. The position requires that the individual serve as part of the clinical therapeutic team to provide comprehensive services to consumers and their children. The position functions include but are not limited to personnel management, staff scheduling, and assistance to consumers to ensure a therapeutic environment in which productive, meaningful, and culturally appropriate services can be provided.

JOB DUTIES
- Oversees day-to-day operations of assigned components.
- Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely and accurate manner as required.
- Maintains consumer confidentiality.
- Attend all staff meetings, training meetings, and in-service meetings.
- Maintains CPR/First Aid and Respect training yearly.
- The incumbent of this position must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines. The incumbent shall always demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and consumers.
- Assist with monitoring of consumers on and off the unit. Facilitates groups as needed within the scope of facilities or knowledge.
- Schedules, supervises, and evaluates residential aides.
- Conducts orientation and training for all new RA and Cook staff members on relevant policies and procedures, including vehicle, emergency, universal precautions, and health and safety rules.
- Provides file documentation following established standards, and submits reports (i.e., required
- Plans and assists with social and recreational activities scheduled during shift, in cooperation with the treatment team/staff.
- Monitoring and approving staff timesheets, including overtime documentation.
- Trains and/or assists with consumer random drug testing: urine analysis, breathalyzer, and mouth swabs.
- Attends clinical case staffing and functions as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Completes progress notes as needed in EHR.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Provide RA coverage in the absence of a scheduled RA.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIES
- Knowledge of sound substance abuse and mental health treatment practices.
- Principles and practices of behavioral health, residential or treatment program operations.
- Crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and emergency procedures.
- Ability to interface with consumers who may be undergoing withdrawals from alcohol and/or drugs and may suffer from other medical or psychological complications, particularly in a crisis situation.
- Skill in thinking critically, problem solving, time management, and independent decision making.
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and compliance requirements.
- Skill in facilitating group activities and therapeutic session within scope of knowledge and training.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, agencies, and consumers.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams and the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple or conflicting priorities.
- Skill in supervising, training, and mentoring staff to promote consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Ability to model positive behavior and support staff adherence to program and safety standards, and foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment.
- Ability to operate a computer and use software programs such as MS Word and Excel, and use HER systems to maintain records and reports.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles, with demonstrated experience working effectively with Alaska Native populations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Associate’s Degree in a related field.
- Must have minimum of two (w) years’ experience in a behavioral health, residential, or human services program, including at least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role.
- Two (2) years of experience in substance abuse.
- Past experience working with Alaska Natives/American Indians.
- A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- One year experience working with high-risk youth.
