Farm Worker

Job requires using machinery to work ground; till soil; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, mow, harvest, package, sort and transport various fruit, vegetable, sod, hay, and flower crops as well as supplies and finished products. Job will require workers to transport and deliver plants, flowers, and produce to the employer owned farm market. Employees will also perform CSA harvesting, packing and dispersing CSA shares, processing and packing fresh produce from the farm. Production of crops will take place in greenhouses as well as in fields. Job requires workers to plant, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, cut, roll, stack, prepare sod for shipping, installing turf/sod grass, lifting other items as needed such as hydro mulch, and sod delivery. The job includes working fields to prepare for next sod crop which includes putting down net material which consist of laying out netting and bending down to put stakes in the ground. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, hay rakes, hay cutting machines, bean harvesters, and box trucks. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job requires loading and unloading trucks using forklifts, electric pallet jacks, tactor loaders, and by hand; participating in irrigation activities including setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; tree pruning and removal; assisting with the stocking of the farm market with produce; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, greenhouses, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; welding; mowing and landscaping on the farm; removing, cutting, and splitting of trees and debris; stacking, loading and moving split logs; lifting items as needed; using computers for record keeping, maintaining logs, and creating labels and tags. Duties include caring for livestock and other farm animals including but not limited to feeding, watering, grooming, handling, and cleaning pens/pastures. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
