Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring the proper control, storage, movement, and availability of orthopedic surgical products, implants, instruments, and related supply components within a warehouse and distribution environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting surgical case readiness by ensuring inventory is accurately received, inspected, tracked, replenished, and prepared for distribution.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, product traceability, and timely inventory availability are essential.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for orthopedic surgical products, implants, instruments, kits, components, and related supplies using computerized inventory management systems.
  • Receive, inspect, count, and verify incoming inventory against purchase orders, packing slips, system records, and product specifications.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory audits to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Investigate inventory shortages, overages, damaged products, expired products, missing items, and other inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensure orthopedic surgical products and components are properly labeled, organized, stored, and maintained according to company procedures and product requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with replenishment activities to ensure adequate product availability.
  • Track inventory movement between warehouse locations, customer sites, loaner banks, consignment locations, and other internal or external locations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to product movement, returns, transfers, expiration dates, lot numbers, serial numbers, and other applicable product identifiers.
  • Inspect surgical kits and inventory components to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established specifications.
  • Assist with the assembly, replenishment, breakdown, and inspection of orthopedic surgical kits and trays.
  • Identify missing, damaged, expired, or incorrect components and coordinate with appropriate internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Support inventory reconciliation activities and assist in researching root causes of recurring inventory discrepancies.
  • Work closely with warehouse, distribution, customer service, sales, and operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues and ensure product availability.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure inventory storage areas in compliance with company safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with preparing inventory for shipment, transfer, delivery, return, or replenishment as needed.
  • Follow established procedures related to inventory control, product handling, traceability, quality, and safety.
  • Support additional warehouse and inventory-related responsibilities as assigned.

What You Need

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of professional work experience.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work with computerized inventory management, warehouse management, or enterprise systems.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify and investigate inventory discrepancies and follow established processes to resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work onsite during the scheduled shift and participate in overtime or on-call requirements as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or additional post-secondary education.
  • Experience with orthopedic surgical products, medical devices, surgical instruments, implants, or healthcare-related inventory.
  • Experience managing inventory requiring lot number, serial number, expiration date, or product traceability tracking.
  • Experience with cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and physical inventory audits.
  • Experience working in a high-volume warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems, ERP systems, or warehouse management systems.
  • Previous experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to perform duties in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the facility for extended periods.
