Intellectual Property Patent Agent (AI, Software, or Electrical) - Washington, DC

Faegre Drinker is actively recruiting a Patent Agent to join the Intellectual Property group in our Washington, DC office.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved with all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution. Successful candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with experience in drafting and prosecuting patents related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, or other emerging technologies are strongly preferred. Current admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required. Two or more years of working experience as a licensed patent agent is required. Experience in client counseling or working in the software and hardware related industry is a plus. Candidates must be collaborative and motivated to succeed in a client-focused, team-oriented environment. Preferred candidates will have excellent academic credentials and strong written and oral communication skills.

The anticipated initial annual salary range for someone who is hired into this position in the Washington, DC office is $115,000 - $180,000. Compensation for this position in other offices will vary; the anticipated compensation range for other locations is available here.

Actual initial salary will be based on the relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location of where the position is filled and consistent with applicable law. The initial salary range listed above is just one component of Faegre Drinker's total compensation and benefits package for attorneys, which includes, but is not limited to, productivity and discretionary bonuses; life, health, accident and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.
