The Associate Director of IT Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of IT infrastructure, systems integration, and operational support across the department. This role ensures the efficient and secure operation of IT services, including IT service team, hardware/software platforms, and enterprise applications. The Associate Director will lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads and manages IT operations including infrastructure, network services, systems administration, and end-user support.
- Oversees integration of multi-vendor systems and ensure alignment with organizational architecture and data communication standards.
- Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Conducts feasibility studies and strategic planning for network and systems development.
- Manages onboarding and training of IT staff; evaluate performance and foster professional development.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure IT services meet operational needs and strategic objectives.
- Monitors and analyzes operational metrics and financial performance; prepare reports and recommend improvements
- Leads change management initiatives and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ensures compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred
- 6–10 years of experience in IT operations, including 3–5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in healthcare or financial systems preferred

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
