Role Summary- Engineering Manager Role


We are looking for a Hands-on Engineering Manager who will lead and grow multiple engineering teams while remaining technically engaged in architecture, design, and implementation. This role combines people leadership, technical depth, and execution ownership across large-scale networking and systems infrastructure.

You will define team direction, build strong engineering culture, and ensure high-quality delivery across distributed systems that support core product infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Management

· Lead and manage multiple engineering teams (hiring, performance, growth, and retention)

· Define team vision, technical charter, and execution strategy

· Build a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture

· Conduct performance reviews, feedback cycles, and career development planning

· Partner with cross-functional leaders (Product, Design, SRE, Security)

· Technical Leadership (Hands-on Expectation)

· Stay actively engaged in system design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making

· Contribute to code reviews and occasionally implement production-level code

· Lead design of scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems

· Drive engineering best practices in systems design, testing, and observability

· Guide technical tradeoffs and mentor engineers on architecture and implementation

Delivery & Execution

· Own end-to-end delivery across multiple teams and release cycles

· Establish DevOps practices to improve deployment reliability and developer productivity

· Drive incident response readiness and operational excellence

· Ensure predictable execution of roadmap commitments


Domain Focus

· Lead development of networking and infrastructure systems across large-scale platforms

· Work across cloud, client, and enterprise systems (e.g., Azure-scale environments, distributed services, or equivalent)


Basic Qualifications

· 3 years of experience managing software engineering teams

· 5 years of software development experience in modern object-oriented languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js, React)

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience

· Strong foundation in systems programming or distributed systems


Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated hands-on coding ability (debugging, testing, and production contributions)

· Strong understanding of distributed systems and networking fundamentals

· Experience designing and shipping large-scale production systems

· Solid architectural skills with proven implementation experience

· Track record of delivering across multiple ship cycles

· Experience in DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure environments

· Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills

· Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams or orgs


Additional Information:


This role is structured as a contract engagement and includes participation in the company’s Profits Interest Unit (PIU) program. PIUs provide contributors the opportunity to share in the future growth and success of the company as key milestones are achieved. Units vest based on the successful completion of agreed project deliverables and represent participation in future profit and value appreciation above a defined threshold. Please note that this is an independent contractor role and does not include employee benefits.
