BIM Technician
ACS is looking for a BIM Technician to join our team. This position will work closely with our BIM team and engineers to support the development and coordination of 3D models and construction documents throughout the project lifecycle. The BIM Technician will assist with modeling, drawing production, equipment coordination, and capturing existing site conditions to help ensure project designs are accurately documented.
Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with the BIM team to develop, tag, detail, and maintain project drawings and sheets.
- Apply engineer redlines and design updates to project models and drawings.
- Work directly with engineers to lay out piping, ductwork, conduit, and other building systems within project models.
- Ensure drawings include appropriate tags, notes, dimensions, callouts, and other information necessary to clearly communicate the design.
- Create and maintain Revit equipment families, working with engineers to ensure families remain current and accurately reflect specified equipment.
- Assist with importing and simplifying equipment models
- Work with point cloud data to trace and model existing site conditions
- Build Revit content (families) for ACS in-house design and constructability modeling.
- Use 3D scanner on site and register scans for incorporation into Revit models.
- Support the development, coordination, and maintenance of accurate BIM models throughout design, construction, and as-built documentation.
Basic requirements include:
- Associates degree in a related field (i.e. CAD drafting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or architectural design) or commensurate experience.
- Experience in Industrial Systems design at a consulting engineering firm or a Design/Build Contractor is a plus.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.
- Experience creating Revit content and working within project models.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, markups, and technical information.
- Demonstrates strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel to customer facilities with several overnight stays to perform site scanning and support project needs.
