Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years of experience in building systems design (HVAC/plumbing)
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in AutoCAD and REVIT
- Experience with K-12, higher education, or municipal projects
- Familiarity with energy modeling and sustainable design
- Experience with VRF, VAV, hydronic, and packaged HVAC systems
Design & Engineering:
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork and piping design
- Develop basis of design narratives and system selections
- Prepare construction drawings and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes (IMC, IPC, IECC, ASHRAE, local codes)
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and fire protection disciplines
- Participate in design meetings, client reviews, and coordination calls
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals for conformance with design intent
- Respond to contractor questions during construction
Quality & Documentation:
- Produce accurate, complete, and well-coordinated construction documents
- Perform internal quality control reviews
- Assist with cost-conscious design solutions while maintaining performance and code compliance
Construction Support:
- Provide construction administration support including site visits, punch walks, and issue resolution
- Assist with system commissioning and close-out documentation as required
