Grounds & Custodial Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Grounds & Custodial Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Grounds and Custodial shop. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for supervising employees, coordinating work assignments, maintaining grounds and landscapes, and ensuring facilities are clean, stocked, safe, and ready for use.

The ideal candidate is an organized, safety-minded leader who enjoys working with a team, managing multiple priorities, and taking pride in the appearance and upkeep of facilities and grounds.

What You’ll Do

As the Grounds & Custodial Manager, you will:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Grounds and Custodial team.
• Plan, assign, and direct work based on operational priorities.
• Oversee landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, brushing, and leaf removal.
• Perform and oversee erosion control, overhead trimming, herbicide application, and seasonal wildlife plantings.
• Regularly inspect work in progress to ensure quality, proper work methods, and deadlines are met.
• Review work instructions and schedule the appropriate personnel, materials, equipment, and vehicles for assigned projects.
• Assign employees to specific tasks and establish work sequences and deadlines.
• Adjust work procedures and schedules as needed to complete work effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure facilities are clean, orderly, and adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
• Monitor and ensure the proper maintenance and use of equipment, vehicles, tools, and supplies.
• Communicate with the O&M Manager regarding work progress, delays, operational concerns, and overall activities.
• Train, coach, and support employees in the performance of their duties.
• Address employee concerns, complaints, and workplace problems in accordance with organizational policies.
• Ensure employees follow established safety practices, rules, and regulations.
• Perform hands-on grounds and custodial work as needed to support the team and accomplish operational goals.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years of experience in the Grounds and Custodial trade and/or applicable certified credentials.
• Working knowledge of equipment used in grounds and custodial maintenance operations.
• Previous supervisory experience managing a diverse workforce.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Valid state driver's license with an insurable driving record.
