Summary: The Strategic Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring aircraft parts, hardware, tooling, fabrication, and repair/engineering services to support on-time delivery of maintenance and operational programs. This role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to manage complex technical requirements, ensure regulatory compliance, and support production goals. Key responsibilities include supplier selection and negotiation, cost reduction initiatives, vendor performance management, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will proactively resolve supply chain challenges and drive strategic sourcing decisions in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and execute sourcing stretegies for structural components of commercial aircraft repair.

· Serve as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders to establish material needs, status updates, and general information to help Operations coordinate turn around time of repairs.

· Responsible to ensure all production related parts, materials, tools, and supplies conform to the applicable Engineering, Specifications, Repair Station Requirements, and best practices as they are purchased.

· Identify, evaluate, and qualify specialized aviation and aerospace suppliersand fabrication vendors.

· Trouble-shoot and problem-solve issues that impede performance. Coordinate resolution with the Materials Manager and the management team.

· Act as a focal point for outside vendors and customers (as appropriate).Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, turnaround time, service level agreements, and long-term agreements to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.

· Provide visibility to variances and make recommendations for material forecast adjustments.

· Utilize the ERP/MRP system to manage demand planning, purchase orders, lead times, parts traceability, and material certification requirements.

· Knowledge of logistic, warehousing and inventory management.

· Ability to prioritize workload, managing multiple projects, and vendors.

· Work with ther Quality team to ensure accuracy of all vendor record are compliant with AS9100 and FAA Regulations.

· Attend regular and consistent materials status and coordination meetings to ensure both overall and specific priorities are clearly communicated and understood by the Management team.

· Assure a clean working environment and work with Facilities to maintain the functioning and safety of the facility.

· Prepare, file, maintain, and retrieve various documents, records, and reports, electronic and hard copies, to maintain activities in keeping with established procedures, regulations and guidelines.

· Follow Procurement processes as established by the Materials Manager.

Skills and Knowledge:

· Must be punctual, dependable, and adaptable to constantly changing work priorities.

· Ability to communicate effectively, act decisively, and to demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness.

· Ability to evaluate and provide resolution on material purchasing discrepancies.

· Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.

· Good interpersonal skills and an ability to be professional at all times in both shop and office environments. Ability to take initiative as problems or opportunities arise.

· Microsoft Office usage and experience required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

· Knowledge of manufacturing methods and practices.

· Experience with aerospace material planning preferred but not required.

· Ability to meet schedule commitments and handle multiple actions simultaneously.

· Represent FACC to outside vendors professionally and accurately.

Additional qualifications:

· FAA Part 145 MRO/Repair Station or FAA Part 121 airline experience preferred.

· Minimum of five years working as a Buyer in a complex manufacturing environment with extensive part numbers.

· Experience with manufacturing resource planning systems such as ERP (SAP experience strongly preferred).

· College degree preferred, equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

· Knowledge and understanding of FAR’s and regulatory compliance processes preferred.

· Working knowledge of materials and inventory management, production scheduling and maintenance.

· Aviation experience preferred

· Experience with Microsoft Office productscombined with a strong command of Excel.

This position requires the use of vision up close (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), the ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up, down or to the left and/or right while the eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: The Buyer performs work in a production environment and may regularly be exposed to dust and heat. Minimal exposure to loud noise (e.g., drilling) and fumes or airborne particles should be expected. Minimal exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals is present. Personal protective equipment may be required. Full-time, Monday-Friday position with the occasional ability to work from home.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
