Job Purpose

The Business Systems Analyst serves as the functional owner, administrator, and strategic steward for a portfolio of specialized business applications that support critical operational workflows across the organization.

This role is responsible for ensuring assigned applications are reliable, well-governed, secure, and delivering meaningful value to the teams who depend on them every day. The Business Systems Analyst partners closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, and internal IT teams to administer systems, improve processes, implement enhancements, and support evolving business needs.

These applications often serve smaller groups of highly specialized users with deep expertise and unique workflow requirements. Success in this role requires curiosity, strong relationship-building skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate operational needs into effective system configurations and solutions.

This individual will become the primary point of ownership for their assigned application portfolio—from day-to-day administration and user support to long-term optimization and roadmap planning.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for an assigned portfolio of specialized business applications.
  • Configure and maintain application settings, workflows, permissions, forms, metadata, notifications, and integrations.

  • Monitor application health, usage, performance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate upgrades, patches, releases, and testing of new features or vendor updates.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how applications support business processes and operational workflows.
  • Gather and document business requirements for enhancements, integrations, workflow changes, and process improvements.
  • Translate business needs into scalable system configuration changes and solution recommendations.
  • Evaluate application effectiveness and drive portfolio and workflow optimization to simplify processes, enhance user experience, reduce manual effort, and maximize business value.
  • Maintain visibility into application lifecycle, vendor roadmaps, licensing, and support models.
  • Serve as the primary contact for application vendors, troubleshooting application issues, and managing escalations to drive timely resolution.
  • Coordinate support cases, issue escalation, renewals, licensing reviews, and roadmap discussions.
  • Provide end-user support, consultation, and guidance on platform best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, standards, knowledge articles, and training materials.
  • Support onboarding new users and ongoing enablement of existing teams.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • 3 years of experience administering business applications, SaaS platforms, or enterprise systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
