About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Winding Machine Operator to join our day shift team in Hazlehurst, MS. You'll set up and run winding machines producing high-quality transformer coils to precise specifications. Coil winding is precision work at the heart of transformer production — dimensional accuracy, tension control, and attention to detail directly determine whether the finished unit performs. If you have strong mechanical instincts and take pride in holding tight tolerances, this is your role.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate winding machines, producing accurate coil winds to detailed blueprints and technical specifications
- Monitor machine operation continuously, adjusting tension, alignment, and feed as needed to maintain precision and efficiency
- Inspect coils with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) to verify dimensions and quality
- Maintain production logs, shift reports, and quality control documentation for traceability and process improvement
- Load raw materials (copper conductor, insulation, core materials) onto machines using forklifts and hand tools
- Troubleshoot machinery issues proactively and flag problems before they affect production
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all shop safety procedures
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Proven experience operating winding machines or similar manufacturing equipment in a factory environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to interpret technical drawings
- Skilled with precision measuring tools — micrometers, calipers, and other QC instruments
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments
- Familiarity with factory safety protocols, forklifts, and materials handling procedures
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently on a production floor
- Reliable attendance — production depends on a full crew
Preferred:
- Experience winding transformer coils specifically (distribution or power transformers)
- Experience with coil insulation, taping, and brazing/crimping of leads
- Forklift certification
- Experience maintaining and performing minor repairs on production machinery
