About FABRICS
At FABRICS Professional Dry Cleaners, we believe exceptional garment care begins with craftsmanship and attention to detail. With locations in Tribeca and the Meatpacking District, we provide professional garment care and tailoring with a focus on quality, precision, and thoughtful service.
We are seeking an Experienced Tailor with a minimum of 5 years of professional tailoring and alteration experience.
This position is for a skilled professional who can work independently, understands garment construction, and consistently delivers precise, high-quality alterations and finishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform professional alterations and repairs on a wide range of garments
- Handle hemming, waist and side adjustments, sleeve alterations, tapering, shortening, and other garment modifications
- Work confidently with pants, dresses, skirts, shirts, jackets, coats, and other garments
- Evaluate garment construction and determine the appropriate alteration method
- Maintain high standards of fit, proportion, workmanship, and finishing
- Complete assigned alterations accurately within established turnaround times
- Follow alteration instructions and communicate clearly with the service and operations teams when clarification is needed
- Maintain an organized and professional tailoring workspace
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional tailoring or alteration experience required
- Strong sewing, alteration, and garment construction skills
- Ability to perform alterations independently from start to finish
- Experience working with a variety of fabrics and garment constructions
- Strong attention to fit, proportion, detail, and finishing
- Reliable, organized, and consistent
- Experience working with premium or designer garments is a plus
- Previous experience in a professional tailoring shop, atelier, dry cleaner, or luxury retail alteration department is a plus

- Full-time or part-time opportunities available based on experience and availability
