What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping/Receiving Associate position at Fabric Development Inc.?
Shipping / Receiving Associate – This position receives raw materials and ships finished goods. The position is located in the Shipping / Receiving Department.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Tasks and Work Activities
- Receive and inspect raw materials into Inventory, verify that quantities received and material type are correct, label material accordingly
- Move raw materials to appropriate location in plant
- Inspect / Box finished goods as produced, put into finished inventory
- Off loom inspection of finished goods, cutting rolls into specific lengths
- Schedule shipping pick-ups with truckers or UPS
- Prepare finished goods for shipment
- Perform visual inspections of work area to assure that area is safe
- Communicating with Supervisors – Providing necessary information to supervisors regarding any issues regarding the raw materials, or finished goods or shipping instructions
- Other duties as required by management
Knowledge and Skills
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity
- English Language – Demonstrates oral and written comprehension and expression of the English language. Demonstrates reading comprehension with knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words; rules of composition, and grammar.
- Computers and Electronics – Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office
- Active listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
- Certified to operate a forklift
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Indoors – This position is located in the Production Plant.
- The typical work day is sitting for long periods of time
- Employee must be able to bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Duration of a Typical Work Week – This position is a four (4) day work week consisting of ten (10) hours per day. Mon-Thursday 3:30pm-1:30am.
