PREFABRICATION MACHINE OPERATOR
Job Title: Prefabrication Machine Operator
Supervisor: Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Overview
A prefabrication machine operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized machinery used to fabricate metal components, such as cutting, bending, or forming materials according to blueprints and specifications, ensuring quality standards are met while maintaining the proper functioning of the equipment; this involves tasks like loading raw materials, adjusting machine settings, performing quality checks, and identifying and reporting any malfunctions. This is a full-time position.
Essential Functions
· Set up and operate various fabrication machines like plasma table, press brake, shear, band saw, and waterjet
· Draft simple drawings and nesting using OMAX Layout/Make and Flashcut CNC
· Adjust machine settings to achieve desired cuts and bends
· Monitor machine performance during operation, identifying and addressing any issues
· Load and unload raw materials (metal sheets, bars, tubes, etc.) onto the machines using forklift and/or overhead crane
· Securing materials using appropriate methods
· Ensure proper material alignment and positioning for precise cuts and bends
· Perform regular quality checks on parts using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and rulers
· Identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies in the finished product
· Perform basic machine maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubrication, and changing consumables such as saw blades and cutting tips
· Accurately measure and read tape measure
· Adhere to all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
· Operate small power tools to debur and polish parts
· Operate a motor vehicle, often pulling a trailer
Qualifications
· 1 years of experience operating machines in a fabrication shop environment
· Clean driving record
· Experience with trailers (hitch, unhitch, properly load, pull behind truck, backup, etc.)
· Ability to meet deadlines and schedules
· Reliable
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral
· Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings
· Maintain shop upkeep, organization, tooling, equipment, and cleanliness
· Ability to compute basic math
· Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail.
· Willing to work overtime as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
This job operated in a typical fabrication shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Power tools, including saws, and forklifts, are also frequently used. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, a 40-hour work week with the potential of some paid overtime. This position is located in our shop at 359 W 100 S Paul, Idaho.
