Title: Loan Processor (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Loan Department Supervisor
Position Summary
Responsible for obtaining all pertinent information related to loan applications, including income, personal data, and other supporting documents; assembles loan package and submits for approval to a Loan Officer and/or Credit Committee for decision; disburses proceeds on approved loans and is one of the primary communicators for the Loan Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Realizes that Member Service is the top priority for this position.
Understands all aspects of loan programs and stays abreast of all special loan promotions.
Communicates with applicants, assesses needs, recommends loan products, verifies all information is complete and accurate, and orders credit reports.
Completes accurate data entry into the lending software system; preps loans for in person or
electronic signings and presents ancillary loan products offered to members.
Answers and responds to telephone, in person, and e-mail inquiries.
Prepares supporting loan documents for secured and unsecured loans.
Disburses loan proceeds as authorized and directed by loan approval.
Informs members of loan approval or denial.
Communicates, when necessary with 3rd parties to verify payoffs, balance due, and with employers to verify employment status.
Responsible for assembling and maintaining loan files, includes storing and purging, per policy.
Processes Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) paperwork.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Completes all required training as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be familiar with lending concepts such as DTI, LTV, credit scores, etc.; possess sales/ people persuasion skills and maintain professionalism at all times, have keen computer data entry accuracy skills and have a good understanding of general business software programs and machinery (ten key and typing required). This position requires mental alertness to prioritize work load and complete daily tasks timely, in a fast paced environment. Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out written instructions and follow oral instructions. Will interact with members and staff daily. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting to 20 lbs. Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate controlled office environment. Must be able to go up and down stairs/ ladders when required. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer (keyboard/ten key) for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to operate routine office equipment (phone, copier, fax, calculator, etc.) Must be able to work extended hours when required or requested. Must be capable of regular and timely attendance.
