Lead System and Network Administrator - Hybrid - Rockville, MD
- Duration: 3 months initially with potential extension
- 40 hours per week month 1
- 24-30 for months 2 & 3
- Hybrid-Onsite 2-3 days per week in Rockville, MD
- We are looking for a proactive and highly experienced Lead System and Network Administrator to manage and support our IT infrastructure across three operational sites, including the main server room.
- This role is critical to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our systems and networks. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and stays ahead of the curve with modern technology solutions.
- Tier 3 Support C Escalations: Serve as the final escalation point for complex system and network issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Multi-Site Infrastructure Management: Oversee and maintain systems and network infrastructure across all three company sites.
- Server Room Oversight: Manage the central server room, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
- System Administration: Administer Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core services.
- Network Administration: Configure and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
- Monitoring C Optimization: Implement and manage monitoring tools to ensure system health and performance.
- Security C Compliance: Enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies.
- Documentation C Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Technology Leadership: Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Autonomous Execution: Operate independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of tasks and initiatives.
- 5 years of experience in system and network administration, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
- Strong expertise in Windows/Linux server environments, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Deep understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and security practices.
- Experience managing multi-site infrastructure and server rooms.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve Tier 3 technical issues.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network , CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
