Job Description
Plastic Surgery office is looking for a team player who wants a challenge working in a well respected and high paced practice which strives to give its patients a better experience. Must be a friendly, outgoing, professional individual with outstanding "people skills" in order to join our front office team. Responsibilities include courteously and professionally greeting patients, answering phones, obtaining demographic and insurance information, entering information into a computerized medical record, preparing patient charts, booking surgical procedures for office and outpatient and inpatient surgeries, obtaining authorizations, scheduling and authorizing radiology testing, receiving payments, and scheduling patient follow-up appointments, while maintaining patient confidentiality. Ordering of medical supplies and office supplies. Working with other physicians administrative assistants to coordinate patient referrals and surgery bookings. Completing of FMLA paperwork for patients for surgical procedures. Prior customer service experience is required. Prior medical experience is essential.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: To greet patients promptly and in a courteous and professional manner, providing necessary instructions and/or directions to complete the intake process. To obtain and accurately record appropriate demographic, financial and/or referral information. To competently utilize the computer system, including look up, accurate data entry, and generating information and/or reports as needed for billing or other purposes. To ensure patient information is current, collect co-pays, ensure all necessary forms are completed, legible and signed. To conform to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality. To timely and courteously assist patients with the check-out process To answer phones in a pleasant manner and deal with patients’ and other caller’s needs expeditiously. You are organized and succeed in multi-tasking and prioritizing your workload. You are capable of exhibiting discretion when dealing with confidential information. To treat peers, superiors, patients and vendors with fairness, courtesy and professionalism and contribute to the overall positive work environment of the office. To report to work at the scheduled time, demonstrate consistent and regular attendance, and consistently work the duration of the scheduled shift. To perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: High school diploma or GED. Excellent customer service skills. Minimum of two year experience in a customer service setting, preferably one year receptionist experience in health care setting. Ability to interact in a consistently professional and courteous manner with co-workers, patients, physicians and all others with whom contact occurs in the workplace. Ability to properly utilize office equipment, including multi-line phones, computers and copy, fax and credit card machines, and other basic office equipment. Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone, and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients and their families, physicians, staff and other customers.
