Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their purchases in a professional manner
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately while maintaining proper cash drawer procedures
- Upsell products and promote store promotions or special offers to maximize sales opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and ensure merchandise is properly stocked and merchandised
- Provide product demos when applicable and answer customer questions about items or store policies
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking shelves and conducting product demos to enhance customer engagement
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Strong customer service skills with excellent communication and phone etiquette
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for retail math calculations
- Supervising experience is a plus, especially in overseeing team members or training new staff
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs effectively
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, merchandising, stocking, and retail sales techniques
- Demonstrated ability to upsell products and enhance the shopping experience through friendly interaction and product knowledge
