Position Summary
The Parts Coordinator prepares complete kits for structural steel fabrication jobs using Tekla part lists and drawings. This role pulls, labels, and stages all steel pieces and miscellaneous parts so fabrication crews have everything needed to start work on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Tekla drawings, piece marks, and BOMs to determine required parts.
- Pull and assemble kits including structural steel members and miscellaneous parts (hardware, anchors, brackets, purchased items, etc.).
- Verify all parts match Tekla piece marks, quantities, and specifications.
- Label and stage kits in the correct areas for fabrication.
- Check heat numbers and material grades for structural steel.
- Communicate shortages or discrepancies to the Shop Supervisor and Engineering.
- Maintain organized inventory and kitting areas.
- Deliver completed kits to cutting, welding, or assembly stations.
- Keep material traceability documentation (MTRs) accurate and complete.
Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel or fabrication environments.
- Ability to read Tekla drawings and part lists.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of steel shapes and common fabrication hardware.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Tekla Structures.
- Knowledge of steel fabrication processes.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
