We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our night shift team. The ideal candidate will operate a 36,000 lb forklift to safely move and handle wide flanges up to 60 feet long, as well as channels, tubing, and pipe. Attention to detail, strong awareness of safety practices, and knowledge of material identification are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a 36,000 lb forklift to load, unload, and transport wide flanges, channels, tubing, and pipe.
- Safely move materials up to 60 feet long within the yard and shop areas.
- Identify and properly handle various steel materials, including wide flanges, channels, tubing, and pipe.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report any mechanical issues.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area during the night shift.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy forklifts (36,000 lb or similar capacity).
- Ability to identify and differentiate wide flanges, channels, tubing, and pipe.
- Strong understanding of safe loading and material handling practices.
- Ability to work independently on the night shift.
- Reliable and safety-conscious work ethic.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a steel yard or fabrication environment.
- Forklift certification (if applicable).
