SUMMARY:
The CAD Drafter I is responsible for refining information obtained from specifications, sketches, customer drawings, and other information collected and converting that information into detailed product drawings utilized in the manufacturing and assembly processes, including details, dimensions, materials, and methods. Work will include performing a variety of mathematical calculations using standard drafting techniques and engineering procedures. Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in design of new products including all components.
· Assist in existing product value engineering; redesign of product improvements including all components.
· Verify designs through electronic modeling, calculations, and testing.
· Work with vendors to prototype and source initial components.
· Generate product assembly drawing packages and component data sheets for submittal.
· Apply engineering principles and concepts and identify safety improvements and operational cost savings
· Incorporate designs in conformance to applicable standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
· Assist in creation of product documentation, manuals, technical specifications, etc.
· Incorporate most practical materials in designs.
· Produce designs within manufacturing capabilities.
· Produce drawings and associated materials to Engineering specified processes and procedures.
· Produce drawings to meet requirements for all HPi Departments.
· Design tests, record data, and prepare test reports as necessary.
· Assist tool makers in design and development of tooling and jigs.
· Assist in BOM construction and review.
· Accomplish special projects as requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· AA degree in Mechanical Design or formal drafting program.
· Demonstrated knowledge of general manufacturing and drafting processes.
· Equivalent experience and capabilities will be considered in lieu of education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of organization.
· Ability to read, write, and speak technical English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
· Ability to calculate figures.
· Ability to apply Engineering concepts.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Ability to assimilate numerical, verbal, and technical data.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
· Experienced with Microsoft Office, Solid Works, and AutoCAD products.
· Working knowledge of ERP / MRP processes; Great Plains experience a plus but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to listen, hear, and comprehend technical information.
· Ability to see, read, comprehend, and assess complex situations.
· Ability to sit at a desk and function in cubed office environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Work with others in department to produce practical designs.
· Fast paced, multitasking environment.
· Use of personal protective equipment may be required.
· Will have hands on in the R&D Department and may assist with assembly issues.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
