Key Responsibilities
- Answer phones and schedule patient appointments
- Verify and qualify vision and medical insurance benefits
- Check in patients and manage front desk flow
- Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear based on prescription and lifestyle needs
- Accurately measure patients’ eyes and facial features to ensure proper frame and lens fit
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and frame styles
- Adjust and repair eyewear to ensure comfort and satisfaction
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, orders, and payments
- Submit and follow up on vision insurance claims
- Access and explain patients’ vision plan benefits clearly and confidently
- Collaborate with optometrists to support comprehensive patient care
- Previous experience as an optician or in a similar optical role is required
- Strong knowledge of lenses, frames, and contact lenses
- Experience with vision insurance verification, claims submission, and billing systems
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust
- Proficiency with lens cutting and edging equipment
- Retail sales experience preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment
- Experience working with senior patients is a plus
