Job Overview

EyeQ Protection Services LLC is hiring a dependable, professional Unarmed Security Officer for a Harris Teeter retail location. The officer will maintain a visible security presence, observe store activity, report safety concerns, and provide courteous customer assistance.

This position requires standing for extended periods at an assigned post, generally near the store entrance. A standing mat is provided. Authorized breaks are provided in accordance with site policy. Applicants must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Hours of operation are 6am-6pm shift can be split

6a-12p, 12p-6p or 6a-10a, 10a-2p, 2p-6p

Valid Maryland security guard card REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an alert, visible, and professional presence at the assigned post.
• Observe and promptly report suspicious activity, suspected theft, safety hazards, and incidents to store management.
• Greet customers respectfully and assist with questions as appropriate.
• Assist with PURCHEK shopping-cart alarms and use the cart-unlocking device only as trained and authorized by store management.
• Follow the site’s observe-and-report procedures. Do not independently initiate customer stops, accuse customers of theft, chase individuals, or attempt detentions.
• Use calm, professional communication to help de-escalate situations.
• Document incidents and significant events accurately.
• Check in with the Manager on Duty at the beginning of each shift.
• Accurately clock in and out for every shift.
• Remain at the assigned post unless authorized to leave by management or company supervision.
• Wear the required uniform and identification and maintain a neat appearance.
• Keep personal phone use to a minimum and remain attentive throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Valid Maryland security guard card REQUIRED.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Ability to arrive on time and be ready to work at the scheduled start time.
• Strong observation, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow written procedures and directions from supervisors.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
• Previous security or retail customer service experience preferred.

Attendance and Professional Standards

Punctuality is essential to maintaining client coverage. Officers are expected to report on time for every scheduled shift and promptly notify supervision of attendance issues. Sleeping on duty, unauthorized post abandonment, excessive phone use, and unprofessional conduct are prohibited.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 per week
