What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Tutor position at Eye Level Learning Center?
Eye Level Learning Center is an after school learning program for students as young as 4 years old all the way through middle school. We work with a wide range of skill levels, though most of our students are here to get and stay ahead of their classmates or are in need of additional academic stimulation outside of school. The tutors in both the math and the English departments work as a team to encourage students and to help them reach their full potential. We have a student first mindset. While we do have a curriculum that we work within, we strive to give each individual child the support they need. We are looking for team members who are compassionate and patiently guide students to discover a love for learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run daily activities with students
- Manage student breaks
- Send students up to the Lead Tutor for homework explanation
- Aid students with corrections and other tasks
- Administer review booklets and tests
- Keep learning areas organized
- Keep student folders organized per the department’s guidelines
- Grade in downtime
- Perform center chores as assigned by the center manager
Qualifications and Skills:
- Work well with students between the ages of 4 and 8th grade
- Available to work evenings of Mondays thru Thursdays or/and Saturdays till 2:30pm
- Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment
- Well organized
- Retired teacher, substitute, or paraprofessional are welcome to apply
- Proficient in English grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills
- U.S. permanent resident or U.S. citizen
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
