Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Imaging Technician is responsible for performing a variety of advanced diagnostic tests and imaging procedures to assist ophthalmologists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. This position plays a critical role in patient care by capturing high-quality, accurate diagnostic images using state-of-the-art ophthalmic equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including but not limited to Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Visual Field Testing, and Lenstar Optical Biometry.
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality during all procedures.
  • Accurately input and document patient data and test results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment as per manufacturer specifications and clinic protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to interpret results and determine further diagnostic needs.
  • Educate patients about procedures and provide instructions when necessary.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow infection control policies.
  • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with ophthalmic imaging technologies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Certified Diagnostic Ophthalmic Sonographer (CDOS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ophthalmic imaging or similar clinical role.
  • Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including OCT, visual fields, ultrasound biometry (A-Scan/B-Scan), and Lenstar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate diagnostic equipment.

Work Environment:

Fast-paced outpatient clinic setting.
Frequent patient interaction requiring professionalism and empathy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.75 per hour
