We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing & Coding Specialist with a focus on Ophthalmology to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately processing insurance claims, managing medical records, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Duties
- Review ophthalmology medical records to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services.
- Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to ensure precise diagnosis coding aligned with clinical documentation.
- Process and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices, ensuring timely resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all billing information complies with regulatory standards.
- Stay current with updates in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, CPT coding guidelines, and ICD coding requirements.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and administrative staff to clarify documentation and optimize billing accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and industry best practices in all billing activities.
Skills
- Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems for ophthalmology procedures.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology specific to ophthalmology and general healthcare practices.
- Experience with medical billing, collections, and insurance claim processing within a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used for documentation and billing purposes.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims and maintain accurate records efficiently.
