Collections Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Collections Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical collections, accounts receivable, and revenue cycle management, with excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach. In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances, and maintaining positive relationships with patients while adhering to industry standards and compliance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient accounts by reviewing outstanding balances, verifying insurance information, and initiating collection efforts through phone calls,emails and written correspondence.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and payment plans within established guidelines.
• Identify and process pateint accuonts that need outsourced to collection agency
• Answer inbound patient calls regarding billing statements, payment questions, insurance explanations, and account disputes.
• Verify patient responsibility amounts after insurance payment and explain to patients if needed.
• Process and post patient payments in teh Nextech system
• work with the billing team to resolve biling/posting isssues that require review or correction.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including revenue cycle management protocols and privacy standards, ensuring all collection activities adhere to legal requirements.Experience
• Strong understanding of medical billing processes, CPT coding procedures, ICD-10 coding standards, and revenue cycle management practices.
• Excellent phone etiquette combined with customer service skills to handle sensitive conversations professionally.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
