  • Will be responsible for standing up and leading a Program/Portfolio Management Office (PMO/Center of Excellence) 
  • Lead the design, stand-up, and ongoing operation of a Program/Portfolio Management Office/Center of Excellence, including governance, portfolio processes, and engagement model with Client stakeholders
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve standard methods, templates, and controls for program/portfolio planning, prioritization, execution, risk/issue management, and benefits realization
  • Implement and manage the portfolio tooling and reporting ecosystem (e.g., work management, RAID logs, dashboards), ensuring accurate, timely data and executive-ready insights on status, dependencies, capacity, and value delivery
  • Partner with client to facilitate portfolio prioritization, stage gates, steering committees, and roadmap reviews, enabling informed decision-making and alignment to strategic objectives

Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in program and portfolio management, with proven success standing up or maturing a PMO/Center of Excellence (not just leading individual projects)
  • Strong competency in portfolio governance, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g., portfolio planning, stage gates, benefits tracking), with the ability to tailor processes to a client’s context while maintaining rigor
  • Hands-on experience implementing and using portfolio/program management tools; MS Project/Planview/Clarity/Jira/Smartsheet/Azure DevOps, dashboards/Power BI
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, or related field; advanced degree and/or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, PfMP, MSP, SAFe, or equivalent) preferred
  • Must be local to Sacramento, CA area as this is a remote role, but does require being onsite at the client for 1 day per month 

The expected pay rate range for this contract assignment is $80.00-90.00 per hour. Exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location.
