The Coated Metal Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring the goods and services our organization needs to operate effectively and cost-efficiently. This role involves negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers while ensuring compliance with company policies and quality standards. The Buyer monitors inventory levels, analyzes market trends, and collaborates closely with production, engineering, and finance teams to align purchasing decisions with business goals. The ideal candidate combines financial acumen, planning, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail to secure the right materials, at the right price, delivered on time. They serve as the key link between vendors and the organization, using strong communication and relationship-building skills to maintain reliable supplier partnerships.

The work environment characteristics include periodic noise increases when in the Manufacturing facility, although the office environment is usually quiet and respectful. Safety glasses and other required safety protection should be worn when out in the manufacturing facility, which may vary depending on the area you are working/visiting.

Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiation & Contracts: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure competitive advantages while ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Inventory & Cost Management: Monitor inventory levels, analyze usage trends, and ensure purchasing aligns with budget and operational goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production, engineering, operations, and finance to ensure materials and services support business needs.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships, evaluating supplier performance and reliability.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to cost-savings initiatives, efficiency improvements, and long-term procurement strategies.
- Other duties as needed.
- Proven success in negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors.
- Strong understanding of production systems and manufacturing processes, including technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting practices, and financial analysis.
- Advanced analytical, planning, and mathematical skills with the ability to evaluate cost, risk, and supplier performance.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Professional presence and confidence in presenting information and responding to questions.
- Calm, composed, and solution-oriented when addressing conflicts or challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and resolve logistical or procurement challenges.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as business needs require.
