GEO-Geophysical Applications
Geophysical Applications (GAPS) delivers integrated geophysical technologies, workflows, and solutions that enable industry leading business decisions across the Upstream. The GAPS strategy is to (1) raise the Upstreams proficiency in utilizing geophysical data to solve both routine and world class problems, (2) develop and deliver innovative technologies, workflows and applications to meet business needs, and (3) deliver integrated geophysical capability to maximize accretive Upstream value. A GAPS job family member is a geoscientist with deep proficiency in geophysics that allows them to apply advanced geophysical tools and processes for making subsurface predictions.
Job Role Summary
- A geoscientist with at least 10 15 years of experience practicing the Geophysical Applications discipline. A GAPS ACM is able to apply most GAPS sub-disciplines to routine and complex assignments without supervision, and able to teach and mentor others in routine aspects. GAPS ACMs considered to be corporate resources in certain sub-disciplines are able to apply and teach skills on all aspects of those sub-disciplines, routine and complex.
- Performance dimensions including increased effectiveness and efficiency with regard to work quality and quantity, coordination and teamwork, demonstrating leadership, sound decision making, good business judgment and a focus on general interest are extremely important. These advanced technical and non-technical skills are expected to expand in scope and breadth through time, across projects and discipline over the course of a career. Employees are encouraged to take an active role in their skill and capability development to meet business needs and are encouraged to self-assess in as many skills and capability milestones as appropriate to accurately reflect their technical capabilities. Technical and non-technical skills are developed over the course of a career, including progression up the technical ladder to Senior Technical Professional Advisors, Senior Technical Consultants and Chief Geoscientist, consistent with the Upstream Professional Development Framework.
