We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Engineer to lead commercial strategy and execution for key Product Lines across the North American market. This position requires strong business development experience paired with deep technical knowledge of magnetic components (such as transformers and inductors) or capacitors.
Sitting at the intersection of business strategy and engineering, the Business Development Engineer will be instrumental in defining product pricing strategies, guiding technical introductions, and managing product roadmaps. This role is central to driving revenue, innovation, and long-term business growth in demanding sectors like Defense, Aviation, and Aerospace.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Business Development & Growth: Lead business development initiatives to identify new applications, target high-potential customer segments, and expand existing accounts across the North American market.
- Pipeline Management & Sales Enablement: Drive lead pipeline growth, establish opportunity negotiation strategies, and create enablement tools/training for Sales Managers, Manufacturing Reps, and Distributors.
- Technical Solutioning & Customer Engagement: Provide continuous technical support during prospecting, customer engagement, and new product introductions, presenting alternative technologies aligned with company strengths.
- RFQ& Proposal Management: Lead prompt, professional responses to RFQs, building pricing proposals based on cost structure (BOMs, labor, materials), target margins, and strategic market positioning.
- Pricing Strategy & Approval: Define and manage value-based and account-specific pricing structures, coordinating necessary approvals with Finance and Business Unit leadership.
- Product Portfolio & Roadmap Leadership: Collaborate with R&D and Engineering to shape product technology roadmaps, develop strategic business plans, and articulate competitive differentiators.
- Market Intelligence & Analytics: Gather, aggregate, and analyze market trends, customer requirements, and competitive intelligence to support executive decision-making.
- Annual Planning & Goal Setting: Participate in strategic business reporting processes and establish annual order intake (Bookings) targets aligned with corporate growth goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with management, procurement, and production teams to ensure product policies and cost structures align with market expectations.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor, maintain, and report on key metrics and KPIs related to proposal activity, quote conversion, and market penetration.
Role Requirements:
- Strong foundation in electronics, especially magnetics, capacitors, passive components, or power electronics.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Defense, Civil Aviation, Medical, and/or Mass Transportation sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and listening.
- Proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
- Willingness and ability to travel 30% .
