Production Artist / Prepress Specialist

Signs Large-Format Graphics Vehicle Wraps

Extreme Vinyl Graphics | Sevierville, TN

Full-Time | On-Site

$25.00 – $30.00 per hour (depending on experience and demonstrated prepress capability)

Extreme Vinyl Graphics is looking for an experienced Production Artist / Prepress Specialist to join our team.

This is not your traditional graphic design position…

We are looking for someone who can create great-looking work and deeply understands how that work will be printed, produced, fabricated, finished, and installed.

Our Production Artist is a vital link between the customer’s vision and the finished product leaving our shop. You will work on signs, banners, decals, vehicle graphics, wraps, rigid signage, and other custom graphics while preparing artwork that our Production team can execute accurately and efficiently.

For this position, attention to detail is every bit as important as creativity. A beautiful design is not finished if the dimensions are wrong, the file is set up incorrectly, the wrong version reaches Production, or the artwork cannot be manufactured as intended.

What You’ll Do

  • Create original graphics and layouts for signs, banners, decals, vehicle graphics/wraps, and custom graphic products.
  • Turn approved concepts and customer requirements into accurate, production-ready artwork.
  • Verify dimensions, quantities, orientation, sidedness, spelling, colors, and job-specific details before artwork release.
  • Prepare files with proper bleeds, contour-cut paths, panels, masks, outlines, and output specifications.
  • Review customer-supplied files for resolution, scale, fonts, vector/raster quality, color mode, and production suitability.
  • Maintain organized files and strong version control so Production always uses the correct approved file.
  • Design with physical production constraints in mind—including material widths, sheet sizes, substrates, laminates, finishing, installation conditions, and equipment limits.
  • Work closely with Technical, Production, and Installation teams to resolve questions before a job hits the shop floor.
  • Prepare customer proofs/revisions and manage scope-change communication (dimensions, quantities, deadlines, pricing).
  • Stop and ask questions when something doesn’t make sense rather than guessing.

What We’re Looking For

The right person is both creative and technically disciplined—someone who notices details others miss, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in clean, accurate handoffs.

  • Strong graphic design and layout capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organized multi-project management.
  • Clear understanding of the difference between designing artwork and preparing files for physical production.
  • Ability to catch incomplete/conflicting job specs and ask the right questions upfront.
  • Collaborative mindset toward Production rather than treating Art as a separate island.
  • High speed without sacrificing accuracy in a fast-paced shop environment.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Flexi and CorelDRAW is strongly preferred.
  • Experience preparing files for professional print, large-format, vehicle wraps, or physical fabrication is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of vector vs. raster graphics, scaling, resolution, fonts, cut paths, bleeds, and color modes.
  • Comfortable working with precision measurements, scale, fractions, decimals, and basic production math.
  • Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop experience is a plus.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your resume and portfolio/examples of your work.

We are especially interested in seeing projects that were ultimately printed, fabricated, wrapped, installed, or produced in the real world. Candidates whose experience is primarily digital, or social media design should note that this position requires a heavy focus on physical production, technical accuracy, and prepress prep.
