Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is looking for a Director of Hardware Engineering to develop solutions across a wide range of ruggedized products and applications. In this role, you will oversee all stages of development, from requirements and design, through implementation and verification, to continuing engineering and customer support. X-ES provides the opportunity to work in a high-tech environment where creative, analytical, and critical thinking is encouraged and rewarded.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and direction for hardware engineering teams.
- Manage product development, innovation, and hardware engineering systems.
- Ensure rigorous design reviews, technical audits, and compliance with customer specifications and contract scope.
- Drive strategic initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to organizational leadership.
- Lead team development, foster an empowered culture, and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes.
- 5 years of engineering management experience with 13 years total in engineering (preferred).
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field.
- Proven ability to manage engineering project development for customers driven products as well as internally driven technology research and development projects.
- Deep understanding of mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
- Expertise in the oversight and optimization of engineering design tools including schematic capture, PCB design, drafting, 3D modeling, thermal management, and other related tools.
- Knowledge of hardware development tools and methods (EDA, CAD).
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and solve complex problem.
- Capable of mentoring and/or developing talent.
- Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI.
- Experience with embedded products form factors (VPX, COM Express, SOSA, VME, cPCI, ATCA).
- Familiarity with military requirements (MIL-STD 810, 461, 464, 704, 1275, DO-160, 178).
- Experience with product qualification (Shock/Vibe, Temp, Humidity, Altitude, EMI/EMC).
- Experience with embedded technologies (CPU, FPGA, Network, SSD, DDR, XMC, TPM, IPMC).
