Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation
- Conduct patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to enhance patient understanding and satisfaction
- Operate advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or other EMR systems is a plus
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable; experience working with children is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and clinical staff
