Extol, Inc. is looking for a driven and relationship-focused Sales Engineer / Business Development professional to help grow our business across targeted vertical markets such as energy storage, consumer products, and industrial applications. This role blends technical problem-solving with proactive business development, working closely with customers, manufacturer representatives, and internal teams to identify opportunities and develop solutions that leverage Extol’s plastic welding and automation technologies.


This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys developing new relationships, expanding existing accounts, and collaborating with a highly technical team to deliver innovative solutions.


The Ideal Candidate

  • Actively pursues new business opportunities by prospecting, cold calling, and building relationships with new customers in targeted vertical markets.
  • Develops strong partnerships with existing customers to expand Extol’s presence and uncover additional opportunities.
  • Conducts thoughtful discovery conversations to understand customer challenges and identify root problems.
  • Collaborates closely with internal teams, including the Manufacturing Solutions Center (MSC), Process Development Center (PDC), and Project Management, to develop effective solutions.
  • Communicates technical concepts clearly and presents compelling value propositions to customers.
  • Demonstrates resilience and persistence when developing new business and navigating complex sales cycles.


What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in technical sales, capital equipment sales, or business development.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and develop new business opportunities, including prospecting and cold outreach.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information clearly to customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.
  • Experience working with CRM systems to manage pipelines and customer information.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico (approximately 30–50%).


Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000–$140,000 with additional variable compensation potential.
