Swing Crew Hatchery SS

The purpose of this position is to be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, in the department or facility in order to assist the supervisor when needed.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Accomplish various jobs correctly and efficiently and be flexible to learn new positions and duties as the need becomes available. Have good communication skills to help orientate new employees to the jobs. Adapts to new positions quickly and to new situations in all the areas.

Performs various jobs on the line, in the department or in the facility as assigned jobs at established production level.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.  Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Swing Crew and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Visually verifies information, often in small print. Must be able to work in cool, wet, noisy environments with temperature extremes, on feet for entire feet. Must be able to lift 35 lbs to shoulder height, push or pull 1000 lbs.  

Travel: Between facilities and farms as needed to fill in for Driver Helpers. (In JB Hunt equipment)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required. 

Technical Experience: Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license.    

Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Minimum Education: Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.Must be able to read, write and perform basic math.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Competencies: Communication skills & decision quality- Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
