Nights- Thursday 12am-6am and Thursday-Saturday 6pm-6am
Be able to operate lab equipment to provide finished product analytics.
Essential Position Responsibilities
This job consists of collecting hourly samples for each of the 3 systems, 2 fat samples, feather samples and blood samples, repetitive climbing, lots of walking through out the plant, great communication, computer and penmanship skills. It requires upper body and arm strength due to frequently claiming vertical ladders and having to pull up your own weight and not afraid of Hights. Ability to help in other places of the plant between samples.
Read, understand and follow all Standard Work Instructions (S.W.I.) and Training within Industry (T.W.I.) utilizing Lean rules and principles. Work safely following all Simmons policies and requirements. Or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, and vehicles, handling of feed products, packaging, ingredients and any other related items. Operate all equipment, monitor and maintain production speeds and quality of the finished product. Keep your department clean and uncluttered through-out your shift Accomplish any other related duties as directed by shift supervisor. Complete all forms in department. Performs essential position responsibilities with little or no supervision.
Ability to realize hazards and take precautions.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment. Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift. Ability to climb stairs / fixed and vertical ladders occasionally. Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
