The purpose of this position is to oversee unloading activities, operate the locomotives, and maintain all of the associated equipment at the feedmill.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs millwright tasks and projects, as well as heavy maintenance projects.
- Ensures all schedules are met to eliminate risk of demurrage penalties. Take bin measurements daily or as needed.
- Pull samples and test them. Sweeps and cleans the work area as needed. Performs regular housekeeping tasks to minimize dust accumulation as needed throughout the shift.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in temperature extremes, wet and noisy environments. Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift. Must be able to climb ladders and bend as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Technical Experience: N/A
Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization. Experience in trucking or transportation relevant to poultry organization for 6 months to one year.
Minimum Education: Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED. Computer training.
