Cloud Engineer

Responsible for managing Cloud ERP environment and change management processes within our IT infrastructure for Tier 1 & 2 systems. This role ensures seamless changes and improvements to our IT environment through strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a salary exempt position

Assist in developing and maintaining processes and procedures for managing the IT Cloud ERP environment, including configuration management, release management, and environment provisioning. The candidate will work with development, testing, and operations teams to support the availability and stability of the IT Cloud ERP environment. They will implement best practices for Cloud ERP environment monitoring, security, and capacity planning, and identify and help mitigate risks associated with changes to the Cloud ERP environment.

Change Management: Will support the change management process in the Cloud ERP environment, including assessing change requests, evaluating impact, and coordinating approvals. They will help establish and enforce change control procedures for changes to the Cloud ERP environment to minimize disruptions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaboration with stakeholders to prioritize and schedule changes to the Cloud ERP environment, ensuring minimal impact on operations, is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the candidate will assist in communication and training on changes to the Cloud ERP environment to ensure smooth transitions and user adoption.

Documentation and Reporting: will maintain accurate documentation of the Cloud ERP environment configurations, change requests, and approvals. They will generate regular reports on the Cloud ERP environment and change management activities, including metrics on performance, compliance, and effectiveness. Analyzing data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization is also part of the role.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems  (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain  familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact  of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicate with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in an office or manufacturing environment and surrounding property. May travel via car or plane to various work locations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting the facility.

Travel: Approximately 10-15% travel, including travel to Simmons facilities, one to two offsite classes or conferences per year, and to Simmons offices. Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a passport. 

Technical Experience: 5 Experience with configuration Cloud ERP management tools and release management processes. Familiarity with Cloud ERP environment provisioning technologies

Industry Experience: Working knowledge of ITIL principles and practices; ITIL certification is a plus Preference for food processing organization.

Minimum Education: Associate’s degree in information services, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or related degree or 2 years work experience.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Services, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering or related degree.
