OVERVIEW:
The temporary Finance Assistant for The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis provides project and operational support for finance functions specifically in the areas of accounting, financial management, audit, and documentation. The incumbent also supports receiving dock operations and centralized purchasing functions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with daily and ongoing accounts payable functions including daily processing and postings and weekly check processing. As services are rendered, enters receipts on the contractual purchase orders. Maintains a file for contractual purchase orders and those prepared by Centralized Purchasing.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to Finance staff.
- Assists with researching, updating, enhancing and documenting fiscal processes for Finance.
- Assists with the development and updating of internal control training materials and/or updating current materials to be utilized to train staff on fiscal processes and financial operations of Museum. Tasks include contributing to finance team cross training.
- Assists with preparation of workpapers and files management in support of annual financial audit.
- Prepares period reports and completes ad hoc reconciliations of alphanumeric general ledger system, financial transactions.
- Prepares journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Supports effective data driven decision making and information sharing through report generation, assisting in financial analysis, and preparation of power point presentations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated comfort and proficiency working with financial data and accounting practices. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office platform.
- Must have strong administrative and data entry skills.
- Well organized and have strong attention to detail.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.

ADA REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to view a computer screen for long periods of time. Must be able to navigate the museum facility and campus.
- Must have dexterity to utilize a keyboard.
- Must be able to communicate in planning and training implementation situations; must have ability to express presentations of ideas via face-to-face, virtual and telephone communication. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. Team and group dialogue required training facilitation.
- Must be able to engage in heavy electronic communication.
