Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 7:00 AM-4:00 PM | Half Days on Friday

Compensation: $100,000 - $115,000

Position Overview

We're seeking a Design Engineer to develop custom sheet metal products and mechanical assemblies for a diverse customer base. This position offers a combination of product design, customer interaction, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from initial concept to final production.

You'll work closely with engineering, operations, purchasing, and customers to develop practical, manufacturable solutions while improving existing products and processes.

Responsibilities

• Design custom sheet metal components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Develop manufacturing drawings, models, and engineering documentation.
• Review customer specifications and create designs that balance functionality, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
• Collaborate directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and recommend engineering solutions.
• Support new product development, engineered-to-order projects, and reverse engineering efforts.
• Improve existing designs to enhance manufacturability, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency.
• Select appropriate materials, hardware, and purchased components for new products.
• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and purchasing to resolve production challenges.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
• Stay current on new manufacturing technologies, design methods, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
• 3 years of mechanical design experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing fabricated metal products, weldments, or sheet metal assemblies.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), FMEA, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, production, and customer teams.
• Manufacturing experience required.
