Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain independence.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and monitor vital signs to ensure the health and safety of individuals in your care.
- Implement care plans tailored to each client's needs while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in social interactions and community engagement to promote inclusion and enhance their quality of life.
- Assist with medication administration as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers when necessary.
- Observe and document client behavior and progress, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Engage in activities that promote cognitive stimulation for clients with Alzheimer's or dementia care needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health care, senior care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in patient monitoring is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
- Knowledge of memory care techniques and experience in hospice care are advantageous.
