Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, and other routes while adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex patient needs across diverse environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, hospice care, or outpatient clinics.
- Perform specialized procedures including catheterization, tube feeding, venipuncture, suturing, and spinal taps with precision and care.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management activities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide emergency response support including airway management, ventilator operation, acute pain management, and trauma care in Level I Trauma Center or ICU settings.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, coding (ICD-9/10), and ensure compliance with all healthcare standards including NCQA standards.
Skills
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation.
- Extensive critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center environments; familiarity with Level II trauma centers is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation.
- Skilled in performing triage assessments in urgent care or emergency room settings; capable of managing acute pain and infectious disease cases.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (dementia & Alzheimer’s care), individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Competent in advanced procedures like cardiac catheterization preparation or ophthalmology-related interventions such as dermal fillers or botulinum toxin treatments.
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
